Workforce Commission Providing Services to Southern Plug Employees in Bastrop

BASTROP– The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team will be offering re-adjustment and job counseling services to workers of Southern Plug and Manufacturing in Bastrop. The facility, which employs 60 people, was destroyed by fire Friday night.

A worker orientation session has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 12, at 8 a.m., at the Bastrop Municipal Center, 1901 Moeller Drive. All employees are encouraged to attend to learn about the services available to them through the LWC.

Services to be provided include job placement assistance, information on training opportunities, job search workshops, labor market information, résumé preparation assistance, interview preparation, help filing for unemployment insurance benefits and online job search assistance.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to the employer or participating employees.
