Hiring Event Being Held in Lake Charles for Oil Spill Clean-Up Jobs

LAKE CHARLES – A hiring event is currently being held through Friday, Oct. 15, to recruit qualified Louisiana applicants for oil spill clean-up jobs in the Lake Charles area.

The event is from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily at the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Calcasieu Business and Career Solutions Center, 4250 5th Ave. in Lake Charles.

Positions are available for laborers, safety specialists and foremen/supervisors. Applicants must be Louisiana residents and have 40-hour Hazwoper certification, with TWIC cards and confined space training a plus.

Hourly wages, depending on experience, will be $12.50 for laborers; $20 - $24 for safety specialists; and $14 - $16 for foremen/supervisors. Assignments will be for six to nine months, working 12 hours per day, seven days a week.

Applicants should apply in person and must bring proof of Hazwoper certification and valid identification and Social Security card.
