Unemployment Insurance Claims Report July 16, 2010

BATON ROUGE - Initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) for the week ending July 10, 2010, decreased to 4,533 from the previous week’s total of 4,750. Initial claims were below the comparable week ending July 11, 2009, figure of 5,367.

The four-week moving average of initial claims decreased to 4,547 from the previous week’s average of 4,640.

Continued unemployment insurance weeks claimed for the week ending July 10, 2010, decreased to 57,044 from the previous week’s total of 57,204. Continued weeks claimed were below the comparable week ending July 11, 2009, figure of 61,275.

The four-week moving average of continued weeks claimed decreased to 57,364 from the previous week’s average of 57,537.
