BATON ROUGE – An interruption in electricity to the Baton Rouge offices of the Louisiana Workforce Commission temporarily shut down call center operations handling unemployment insurance claims for more than one hour this afternoon, according to the LWC.
According to information from Entergy, a transformer went out on Scenic Highway at approximately 2:30 p.m., resulting in the power failure. Power was restored at 3:45 p.m.
Call center staff resumed normal operations once the power was restored and will remain on duty until the regularly scheduled end time of 7 p.m.
The LWC’s online unemployment insurance service through its website, www.laworks.net, remained operational during the power outage. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
