BATON ROUGE – Three staff members of Louisiana’s Disability Program Navigator Initiative were recently honored at the Seventh Annual National Disability Program Navigator Initiative Conference in Wisconsin.
Disability Program Navigators Georgette K. Wallace and Brian Kaufman were awarded the Randee Chafkin “Heart” Award. The award represents the heart of the Navigator Initiative, working to see that no good deed or effort goes unrecognized and that total dedication is given to seeing that others recognize the human value of the initiative.
Kaufman also was awarded the Jim Downing “Go Where No Navigator Has Gone Before” Award, which represents the key individual who has envisioned the role of the navigator and has worked tirelessly in the early stages, assuring that navigators and non-navigators alike understand navigator roles and opportunities.
Kisha C. Thomas, state lead/program coordinator, was awarded the Laura Gleneck “Glue” Award, which is the only recognition for state leads. The “Glue” Award represents the state lead who holds those around together in vision and mission and supports all in work through ongoing research and dissemination of information.
