This program is sponsored by the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, in conjunction with the Workforce Development Board, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission and funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.


The purpose of the Youth Summit/Job Fair is to connect youth to the necessary employers, resources, and post-secondary education/training intuitions to help them prepare for and obtain gainful employment in emerging industrial occupations.

The theme is: "Creating Visions of Successful Careers!" Youth participating in this FREE event will experience a selection of workshops addressing work readiness and high demand occupations in Southwest Louisiana. The targeted population is youth, ages 16 to 24. A number of local employers' will be present to interview and accept applications for full time, part time, and summer employment.

Representatives from McNeese State University, SOWELA Technical Community College, and other local schools will be present to answer questions concerning specific curricula that will qualify them for jobs in high demand occupations.
