The statewide job fairs will be held on various dates during October, which is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. These free events are designed to connect job-ready individuals with disabilities with local employers looking to hire. The official theme of this yearís job fair is ďA Strong Workforce is an Inclusive Workforce: What Can YOU Do? Since the initiative began in Louisiana nine years ago, the job fairs have connected roughly 13,000 job seekers with more than 1,300 businesses. Job seekers who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) will have an opportunity to attend a Work Incentive Seminar Event (WISE) to learn how to stay in control of their benefits while enriching their lives through employment. Select cities will offer a mini symposium for employers. Job seekers and employers can get more information at www.work-pays.org or by contacting Georgette Wallace, firstname.lastname@example.org, 225-342-2936.
